Since the referendum vote that approved the schools projects in the Fall of 1997, the Building Committee and Design Alliance architects have been busy on Raymond’s behalf.
The new building, to be located across from Jordan-Small School on Webbs Mills Road, design was completed in the winter of 1998. School staff and many town representatives were consulted. They have decided about many blueprints, materials and ideas, after much discussion.
Now under construction (as you may have noticed!), the project received the Planning Board’s approval of the site plans in December 1998. Bids were awarded in March and construction began in April. You will see physical progress on construction throughout 1999 which will complete in time for opening in the fall of 2000.
In the year 2000, detailed design of the conversion of the Jordan-Small building to a Middle School will happen. Construction is planned for the summer of 2001. The Raymond Schools project will wrap up with the opening of the new 5-8 Middle School in the Fall of 2001.
