Proposed Middle School Renovations

Objectives of the Renovation
Provide improved spaces to support a Middle School Educational Curriculum.
Meet current codes for accessibility (ADA Law) and safety.

Highlights of the Improvements

Site Improvements
Improve bus turning radius onto Webb’s Mills Road.
Address water shortage with new well.
Improve drainage on existing baseball field.
Improve entrance accessibility.

Building Improvements
Classrooms will receive additional outlets, improved lighting and upgraded intercom/phone system.
Installation of moveable partitions for some rooms to enable team teaching.
Science room increased in size to serve as Science Lab and Technical Classroom with built-in cabinet and counters with additional sinks.
Lockers in the 7th & 8th Grade corridor will be added to store student items.
Bathrooms will be made ADA compliant.
All entrances made handicap accessible.
Increase of the working area and storage in the Art Room.
Create a designated computer instruction room, networked and connected to the internet to meet the increased needs of a Middle School.
Life Skills Room created with room for sewing, cooking, home economics and health studies.
Create a Foreign Language room.
Create a resource room with ADA compliant toilet.
Create a large group room for joint meetings.
Improve reception area and nurses’s office with ADA compliant toilet.
Repaint all corridors.
Relocate Music/Band a larger area with improved instructional quality and provide for storage.
Increase seating capacity in the cafeteria by using the present stage/Music/Band Room.
Improve the poor acoustics of the cafeteria with carpet and acoustical treatment.
Improvements to stage and gymnasium sound system.
