Raymond Web Site Committee Offers In-Home Lessons on Introductory Computer Usage and Internet Training Our vision of the need for in-home or in-business computer awareness training was brought to the forefront by the results that we compiled from the Technology Survey that was done in the fall of 1996. Many respondents stated that they owned computers, but did not know how to take advantage of them and would like to learn. Because of the lack of Adult Ed classes here in Raymond at the present time, and the lack of facilities to train people on IBM PC computers which dominate the business world, we will be offering in-home or office training at a low hourly rate of $30.00 or 10 hours for $200.00. The classes will be customized to suit each client in the comfort of their own home or office, where they will be at ease with their own computer and will not have to worry about going to class and all of the pressures that may come from that situation. Our members who will be doing the teaching will use a non-confrontational relaxed style of presentation that we have found works very well to build confidence quickly and to foster a genuine curiosity. Once this step is achieved, it is easy for the individual to go on with their own education with maybe an infrequent tutorial. From the start of the Web Site Committee, our members have said that if we were going to build a comprehensive, top-notch Web site for the people in Raymond, that our next job would be to enable people in the community to use the Web site and to add value to their knowledge base by our teaching them to use their own computers. The rates are $30.00 per hour or 10 hours for $200.00. The Website committee is seeking new members. We have several interesting projects for this summer. One is to generate a Web page for each business in the Lake Region area. This would involve a brief visit to each business to gather pertinent information for their Web page and typing it into a formatted Microsoft Word document. Contact:
