Panther is a small lake, about 3 miles long and a mile at the widest point, with a peninsula nearly cutting it in two. With even a small trolling motor, you can tour the lake in an hour. You can tube the kids with a 15-hp outboard. For waterskiing, you'll need a little more power, of course, but - be honest now - when's the last time you needed to ski more than two people at once? Don't you have better things to spend that money (and testosterone) on?

Seriously, folks - and more to the point - where the water is shallow, the thrust from a powerful boat or PWC (jetski) can stir up the sediments on the bottom of the lake, which may release phosphorus that has been sequestered in those sediments. Phosphorus is a potent lake-killer, and the less we disturb it, the better. (You can read more about it under "Local/Threats.") If you just have to have a monster boat, please try to start your skiers in deep water, not close to shore. Thank you.
