This requires that they be adjusted by the town's certified ratio. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Homestead Exemption This exemption is available to residents that apply by April 1st of each year, and have maintained their primary residence in Maine for a minimum of 12 months. The law was changed in 2004, and the exemption is now $13,000 at 100% certified ratio. Homestead Exemption Application ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Veteran's Exemption All Veterans who are 62 years old, served in a recognized war period and were honorably discharged are eligible for this exemption. Un-remarried widow/widowers of veterans who would have been 62 years old and paraplegic veterans regardless of age are also eligible. For WWI, the exemption is $7,000; for all other wars, the exemption is $6,000; for paraplegic veterans, the exemption is $50,000.
