The Town of Raymond is soliciting proposals for an insurance agent/broker/provider who will handle the placement and servicing of its property and casualty program. This insurance program includes commercial liability, commercial property, commercial auto, workers’ compensation, commercial umbrella, equipment, directors & officers, employee benefits liability, employment-related practices, bonding, and cyber security in conformance with Maine statutes. This is an important time of year, the RSU #14 Budget is being discussed and voted on.  Please attend as many of the following events as you can to help influence the direction of our schools:

 

April 5, 2017 - 6:30pm - Public Forum and Board Deliberation on the 2017-2018 RSU #14 Budget - Windham Town Council Chambers, 8 School Road, Windham

 

May 24, 2017 - 6:30pm - RSU #14 Budget Validation Vote - Windham High School Auditorium, 406 Gray Road, Windham

 

June 13, 2017 - 7am to 8pm - Vote on the RSU #14 Budget - Jordan Small Middle School Gymnasium (for Raymond Residents) - 423 Webbs Mills Road, Raymond

 

 

NOMINATION PAPERS will be available beginning 8:30 am, Monday, March 20, 2017

 

For the following positions:

 

Selectman – 2 positions for 3 year terms

Budget/Finance Committee – 3 positions for 3 year terms

RSU #14 Board of Directors – 1 position for 3 year term

 

Positions to be elected on Tuesday, June 13, 2017.  Polls will be open from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm at the Jordan Small Middle School gymnasium

 

Nomination papers are available at the Raymond Town Office during regular office hours.  25, but not over 100, registered Raymond voter signatures are required for being added to the ballot. 

 

The DEADLINE for submission of nomination papers to the Town Clerk is Monday, May 1, 2017, at 4:00 pm.

 

The Town of Raymond is seeking a volunteer to be a member of the Planning Board.

 

If you are interested in guiding the orderly development of the Town of Raymond, as well as ensuring the environmental protection of our 5 ponds and 2 lakes, then this is the opportunity for you!  The Planning Board enforces the Land Use Ordinance and has a hand annually in developing future ordinances and changing existing ordiances. 

 

If you care about your town and want to have a hand in its protection, then this is the place for you.  Background in municipal planning, development, real estate, building, etc. each have something to add to the Planning Board as well.  Meetings are held at 7:00 pm the second Wednesday of the month (public invited) at the Raymond Broadcast Studio.

Please join fellow community members at a forum to begin the discussion of what an “Age Friendly” community in Raymond and Casco looks like to you. Everyone who is a senior, cares for a senior, or will be a senior is encouraged to attend.

 

Jessica Maurer, of the Maine Association of Area Agencies on Aging will moderate our conversation.

 

The forum will be at the Raymond Public Safety Building on Friday April 28, starting at 3:00 p.m

Raymond Needs You!

The ZBA hears appeals from Raymond's Land Use and Shoreland Ordinances. To volunteer on this board you must be at least 18 years of age, reside in Raymond, and be available the last Monday evening of the month. Meetings typically last about an hour and only meet on an as-needed basis. No experience is necessary, just an interest in the well being of the community

 

Just a reminder to all citizens to make sure your mailbox and/or house has proper identification so that emergency services

can locate your home in the event of an emergency. 

 

The Public Safety Building located at 1443 Roosevelt Trail offers FREE mailbox numbers to those who need them.

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced today that federal Economic Injury Disaster Loans are available to small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture and private nonprofit organizations in Maine as a result of the drought that began on July 5, 2016.

 

This disaster declaration includes the following counties: Cumberland, Oxford and York counties located in Maine.

 

The loan amount can be up to $2 million with interest rates of 2.625 percent for private nonprofit organizations and 4 percent for small businesses, with terms up to 30 years.

 

Applicants may apply online using the Electronic Loan Application (ELA) via SBA’s secure website at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela

Completed loan applications must be returned to SBA no later than May 1, 2017.

 

 

The Town of Raymond has 4 openings on the Board of Assessment Review.  This board hears appeals of assessment decisions.  The board only meets when necessary and has not met in the past 4 years.  If you are interested please fill out an application and submit it to the Town Clerk at sue.look@raymondmaine.org or Town Clerk, 401 Webbs Mills Rd, Raymond  ME  04071, for consideration by the Board of Selectmen.
