On November 13, 2018, at 6:00pm there will be a Special Town Meeting at the Broadcast Studio to vote on whether or not to change the Town Boards, Committees, & Commissions Membership Ordinance to remove the prohibition of anyone being a member of both the Planning Board and the Zoning Board of Appeals.

NOTE OF EXPLANATION:  Prior to June 2016, the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) reviewed any appeals of decisions made by the Planning Board and therefore it was considered incompatible for a person to be on both the ZBA and the Planning Board.  At the Annual Town Meeting vote on June 7, 2016, Section 16.G of the Shoreland Zoning Provisions and Article 6 of the Land Use Ordinance were changed to require all appeals of Planning Board decisions to be sent to Superior Court.  These changes to the ordinances resulted in removing the incompatibility of serving on both the Planning Board and ZBA, but the Town Boards, Committees & Commissions Membership ordinance was not updated to reflect the change.  This vote will make the correction.

The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife has changed to digital law books rather than printed versions.

"In 2016, we printed over 700,000 law books.  That's a lot of paper and a lot of resources diverted from Maine's fish and wildlife."

The digital law books are downloadable and searchable.  The link to them is in the menu list on the right side of this page.  They are formated to use either on a smart phone, tablet, or computer.

There will be a few printed copies for those who do not own a smart phone or computer.

The Raymond Fire Department has just undergone our ISO Insurance Services Office rating review. The ISO is “the leading supplier of data analytics for the property/casualty insurance industry” These ratings are used by insurance companies to calculate premiums for residential and commercial structures.

We are proud to announce that we have been re classified to the improved rating of 4/4Y. This is an improvement from our previous rating of 5/8B, including an entire class drop in the hydrant district of our community.

The ratings system is from 1-10 with one being the best, and ten does not meet the minimum rating criteria for recognition. The Department is rated on four major categories including Needed Fire Flow, Communications, Water Supply, and the Fire Department including equipment, staffing, training, distribution of suppression assets, and community risk reduction programs.

Check with your insurance company and see if any rate changes, which may apply to your fire insurance because of this rating. We are proud to provide improved ratings; the new rating is a reflection of our dedication to provide the best possible services within the scope of our budget.
