Raymond Early Childhood Program

Parents, Childcare Providers and Early Childhood Educators:

I am excited to introduce myself to you as your new Home-School Coordinator/Early Childhood Specialist with the Raymond School Dept. I will be available at the Raymond Elementary school and will be out of the office on Wednesdays to visit families and the community’s preschools, family and childcare centers. My education and working experience is in Early Childhood Education, with experience in operating a family childcare to a larger preschool center. Most recently, my experience is in offering workshops on Parenting and Child Development and helping families in receiving intervention services for children with special needs.

As a new staff member of the school community, I will offer support to the community families. As a specialist, I will provide information about child development and parenting skills and providing links to appropriate services for children who may have some developmental delays in developing age appropriate skills. In addition to offering services and workshops for parents and teachers, it is also very critical to help your child in their transition to kindergarten. It is nice to be able to get to know all the children as they grow and develop so that the school can prepare appropriate programming for all children as they enter kindergarten.

Part of this program is to conduct home visits from November to April. This step is to “get to know you and have some fun” while the parent completes a developmental history form for May screening, share information with parents, and perform an informal screening activities with the child. If you have not scheduled a time for me to visit, please contact me to set up an appointment.

If you were unable to attend the Kindergarten Readiness conference in February, please call and I will send you the information. In April there will be a literacy group for both parents and children in April at the Raymond Elementary School library. Dates will be announced in March.

I look forward to working with you and your child(ren) in the near future and hope that you will contact me with any questions and concerns; and I welcome  your suggestions that you may have that will support the success in our community’s young children’s journey in education. Please call me at Raymond Elementary School @ 655-8672 Ext. 108.

Yours truly, Ivy Jordan
