NON-COMMERCIAL SOLAR ENERGY SYSTEM PERMITTING
The following permits are required for any new residential solar system in Raymond:

A Building Permit is required for all new or expanded installations. This permit is required for both roof and ground-mounted systems.

An Electrical Permit is required for all new or expanded installations. This permit is required for both building-mounted and ground-mounted systems. This permit is only required for residential projects.

A Solar Photovoltaic Fire Permit from the Raymond Fire Inspector is required for all new, modified, or expanded installations.
Inspections Required

A final inspection is required by the Code Enforcement Office.

A final inspection is required by the Fire Inspector.
Permit Fees

The building permit fee will be based on the cost of work for building-mounted systems. The permit fee for ground-mounted systems will be charged by the square foot as "unfinished area." For specific fees see the current Fee Schedule.

The Electrical Permit fee is only the application fee as listed in the current Fee Schedule.

The Fire Permit fee would be:

For a new residential roof-mounted system less than 10,000 sq. ft. = $70.00

For an alteration/addition of a residential roof-mounted system less than 10,000 sq. ft. = $20.00

If a system exceeds 10,000 sq. ft. please contact the Fire Inspector for an accurate fee amount.
