About Our Watershed Conservation Projects

Since 2004, the Panther Pond Association has been a driver of, and a participant in utilizing three Clean Water Act 319 Grants.  319 grant funds are provided by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and administered by the State of Maine Department of Enviornmental Protection (Maine DEP) and the Town of Raymond.

The primary purpose of the grants is to significantly reduce erosion and export of sediment and phosphorus into Panther Pond. This was accomplished by installing conservation practices that reduce erosion and polluted run off at priority sites throughout the watershed. The project also aimed to raise awareness of watershed issues and promote long-term watershed stewardship.

Below are links to the original 2004 Watershed Survey Report, which identified the issue areas, and the three 319 Grant report outlining the work done and the impact realized.
