A marriage license may be obtained from the Town Clerk by town residents. It takes about 30 minutes to process, so please arrive at least 30 minutes before the office closes.

The cost is $40 per couple.
The couple needs to fill out and sign before either a Notary or a Town Clerk the Marriage Intentions form.
Both individuals must come to the Town Office to sign the marriage license, and if needed they can come at different times.
If married previously, applicants must present a certified copy of their divorce decree, a death certificate or annulment certificate. Also, there must be at least 21 days after the divorce is final before a license can be issued.
Marriage Licenses are valid for 90 days after date of issue.
The Town of Raymond staff do not perform weddings. Weddings in Maine may be performed by Ministers, Attorneys, or Notaries Public. You will find a list of Notaries Public by clicking HERE.
Non-residents who desire to be married in the State of Maine may apply for a license in any town in Maine, however it is strongly suggested that they apply in the town where they will be married. The reason is that in 20 years if they need or want a copy of their marriage license, they will likely remember where they were married and may not remember where they applied for a license.
By law, Maine birth records less than 75 years old, marriage records less than 50 years old, death records less than 25 years old and fetal deaths less than 50 years old are considered to be private. In order to inspect these documents, or to obtain copies, an individual must prove that they are permitted by law to do so.

To request a copy of a private Marriage License Certificate fill out a Request Form, the following information is needed:
- Name of bride (use maiden name).
- Name of groom.
- Date of marriage.
- Number of copies requested.
- Please include a daytime telephone number.
- Please make the check payable to: "Town of Raymond".
- Who has access?
- Photocopy of a valid picture ID.
The fee for one certified copy is $15.00. The fee for additional certified copies of the same record is $6.00 each. Send self-addressed stamped envelope with your payment.
